Leak Detection for Underground Pipelines

The most common type of pipelines in Europe are underground pipelines. Continuous monitoring of long underground pipeline sections based on non-destructive or visual testing is not economic and feasible.

Reducing operator risks

On principle, chronic leaks in pipelines with hazardous or explosive media are one of the biggest risks that operators face. Unlike other leak detection systems, LEOS detects a vast variety of leaking substances such as carbon monoxide, chlorine, etc. The application of LEOS is an effective tool for achieving safety advantages and significantly reducing risks.
In addition, systems that can detect chronic leaks at an early stage can result in the people living in the vicinity of such pipelines more easily accepting the installation of pipelines, and thus help the companies' image.

Reduction of pipeline construction costs

Many of our customers have been able to install shorter and thus more economic pipelines. In many cases, such shorter and more economic pipelines - in particular when installed in source water protection areas - was not possible unless the LEOS leak detection system was used

In densely populated areas, LEOS has often ensured economic installation of pipelines between individual chemical production plants.
