FLÜS - Networking

FLÜS - Networking of Several Systems

imageThe modular system concept of FLÜS allows the creation of larger FLÜS networks from virtually any number of individual systems. The respective data
are collected in a data base via Ethernet by a central FLÜS server and can be accessed at any time with a standard browser via a web interface.

Since the actual monitoring task is decentralized, the network is not subject to any real-time requirements.
All server-relevant data are buffered in the so-called evaluation units for a sufficient period of time.

The decentralization also ensures that only the indispensable components have to be installed in the less accessible equipment rooms (e.g. in the controlled access area) and the processor-based components can be placed in the central control room (instead of the analog interface between analog station and evaluation unit shown here, it is also possible to use a digital interface based on optic fiber or copper cable as an alternative).

Finally, there is the technical option of remote access for the FLÜS experts of AREVA NP so that they can support the operating personnel when needed, perform software maintenance activities or the regular function checks required in some standards to be implemented by the manufacturer. An alternative to the VPN technology (VPN = Virtual Private Network) shown here should be particularly mentioned, namely the "KVM over IP" technology (KVM = Keyboard-Video-Mouse), where only keyboard, mouse and video information is transmitted, e.g. between the AREVA computer and the FLÜS client computer via a VPN Internet or ISDN modem connection without the AREVA computer being directly connected to the plant network of the FLÜS operator.
